Spice Exploration is the Exploration & Production arm of the Spice Energy Group, and has operations in Africa, Indonesia and India.

Cobit-SRM is a joint venture with Congo-Bitume from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in which SRM Exploration (a subsidary of Spice Exploration) has a 51% stake. The JV is currently undertaking the development of the Mavuma tar-sands block in the Western DRC near the Atlantic coast. The block contains a Proven + Probable reserve of 235 million tonnes of Bitumen with inferred Resources of approximately 1.8 Billion tonnes (including the reserves), and is also expected to have additional sub-surface oil upsides. A long reserve life and high quality of reserves, low cost of production, and ideal location for easy offtake will ensure high profitability for this project.

In addition, Spice Energy also has one shallow water exploration block in Indonesia, and plans to acquire proven oil blocks in the North East of India. Further acquisitions are also currently in the pipeline with a geographical focus on the Former Soviet Union states of the Caspian, Sub-Saharan Africa and South East Asia, with an aim of producing 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in the next 3 years.
